HMD Global bought a part of Microsoft’s feature phone business and has a licensing agreement that allows it to make smartphones under the Nokia brand. HMD Global has confirmed that the Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 smartphones will be making their way to the Indian market on 13 Jun 2017. All new Nokia phones are also set to launch in APAC, Middle East, Africa and Europe in Q2 2017.
Nokia had recently launched a feature phone in India, Nokia 3310. The tough built and stellar battery life of this nostalgia inducing phone is a feature worth noting.
The smartphones, Nokia 6, Nokia 5 and Nokia 3, will get the Android O update as soon as Google announces its new release.
Nokia 6 (Expected at Rs. 21,000)
The Nokia 6, which is the top of the line model in Nokia’s Android range is powered with 1.1GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor with 4GB RAM, the Adreno 505 GPU and 64 GB internal storage which is expandable upto 128 GB. The phone comes with a 5.50-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1080 pixels by 1920 pixels at a PPI of 403 pixels per inch and with Gorilla Glass 3 . It has 16Mp rear and 8MP front camera. The phone features a fingerprint sensor up front. With dual amplifier speaker and a 3000mAh battery, it has become the most anticipated launch of them all.
The Nokia 6 runs Android 7.0 and It measures 154.00 x 75.80 x 7.85 (height x width x thickness) and weigh 167.00 grams.
The Nokia 6 is a dual SIM (GSM + CDMA and GSM + CDMA) . Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, NFC, USB OTG, FM, 3G and 4G (with support for Band 40 used by some LTE networks in India). Sensors on the phone include Compass Magnetometer, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor and Gyroscope.
Nokia 5 (Expected at Rs. 13,500)
The Nokia 5 is powered by a Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor coupled with 2GB of RAM. Phone comes with an internal storage of 16GB which can be expanded upto 128GB, this dual sim phone is powered with 3000mAh battery.. The Nokia 5.2-inch with a resolution of 720 by 1280 pixels and comes with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass cover on top.
The Nokia 5, on the other hand, features a fingerprint sensor embedded on the home button. HMD Global touts “seamless” metal body. Nokia 5 will be available as both single SIM and dual-SIM variants though availability will depend on the market. Nokia 5 smartphones runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box and also expected to receive regular updates from the company. Nokia 5 come with unlimited cloud storage on Google Photos app.
It sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with PDAF and dual tone flash. It also packs an 8-megapixel camera with autofocus and comes with 84-degress field of view lens. The handset will be available in Tempered Blue, Silver, Matte Black, and Copper colours. It measures 149.7×72.5×8.05mm and supports LTE Cat. 4 download speeds. The handset is backed by a 3000mAh non-removable battery.
Nokia 3 (Expected at Rs. 9,800)
Nokia 3, which is priced lower than Nokia 6, comes with 8MP rear camera, 8MP selfie camera, gorilla glass and It sports a 5-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) IPS display. The phone is powered by a quad-core MediaTek MT6737 processor clocked at 1.3 GHz processor, 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage16GB storage and supports expandable storage via microSD card (up to 128GB)..
Nokia 3 runs Android 7.0 Nougat; the company at the launch event stressed that all the new Nokia smartphones running Android will get regular updates. Much like other Nougat powered smartphones, the Nokia 3 come with unlimited cloud storage on Google Photos app. The phone will be available as a single SIM and dual SIM variants though availability could be different depending on the markets
The Nokia 3 will sport a polycarbonate body, machined aluminium frame, and will come with Corning Gorilla Glass lamination on top. It will be available in Silver White, Matte Black, Tempered Blue, and Copper White colour variants. The company adds that the Nokia 3 sports display flash.
The Nokia 3 packs an integrated 2650mAh battery. It measures 143.4×71.4×8.4mm and supports 4G LTE. The Nokia 3 supports LTE Cat. 4 speeds with download speeds of up to 150Mbps and upload speeds of up to 50Mbps.
